Jeunesse Kids giving children new hope

May 22, 2017
At Jeunesse, we incorporate our core philosophy of “creating positive impact” into everything we do. Through our business, networking and our Corporate Social Responsibility, we try to embody this message to our community of distributors and consumers. Our philanthropic arm Jeunesse Kids supports children in disadvantaged communities, providing funds for education, nutrition and health care to give them a brighter future.

In Australia and New Zealand, Jeunesse Kids has chosen to partner with Friends with Dignity to help impact the lives of individuals and families affected by domestic violence. Every year, thousands of families, including young children are affected by this issue, and through community support and education, we can help give victims their dignity back.  May is Domestic Violence Awareness month in Australia and together we can highlight the impact it has on society.

Impact of domestic violence in Australia

Domestic or family violence against women is the single largest driver of homelessness for women and children, a common factor in child protection notifications and results in a police call-out on average once every two minutes across the country. Together, Jeunesse Kids and Friends with Dignity are attempting to decrease the ongoing negative consequences of domestic violence by raising awareness and educating the public about the impact it has on society. The combined health, administration and social welfare costs of violence against women and children have been estimated to be $21.7 billion a year, with minimal contributions and funding from the public. The impact of domestic violence in Australia is staggering, with an estimated $324 billion dollars to be spent over the next 30 years if the community does not take action.

Who is Friends with Dignity?

Friends with Dignity is an Australian not-for-profit charity that supports men, women and children who have been displaced by domestic violence. They help individuals and families re-build their lives by providing secure housing for those who cannot to return to their homes. People affected by domestic violence often suffer from insecurity and fear of rejection, and embarrassed of their situation. This organisation encourages those affected to speak up and seek help, particularly those with children.

Our impact

Jeunesse has partnered with Friends with Dignity to create Little Friends, powered by Jeunesse Kids to give children affected by domestic violence a chance to further their education and participate in extra-curricular activities. Many children loose funds for their education and often detach themselves from social activities due to the impact of witnessing or experiencing domestic violence. To combat this problem, the ‘Little Friends Scholarship’ powered by Jeunesse will provide bi-annual monetary scholarships to children who cannot pursue their education or co-curricular activities due to the financial impact of domestic and family violence. Each scholarship provides a child with a $500 contribution towards an educational scholarship or co-curricular scholarship. One single scholarship can help change the life of a disadvantaged child, giving them hope for their future.

What you can do

If you know someone affected by domestic violence or want to help make a difference to those children impacted, there are numerous ways you can help Jeunesse Kids combat this issue.

You can donate to the Jeunesse Kids charity and direct your contribution to the Little Friends Scholarship powered by Jeunesse. This money will go towards brightening a young child’s future, giving them the chance to have a happy and normal life. If you know someone who could benefit from this scholarship, direct him or her to the Friends with Dignity page and encourage them to apply for the scholarship. Jeunesse Kids donate 20 scholarships worth $10,000 per year to families across Australia.

We encourage all our distributors to participate in this worthy cause, giving back to those within the community who need support. To find out more about Jeunesse Kids visit http://jeunessekids.org/ or Little Friends Scholarship visit http://www.friendswithdignity.org.au/little-friends-scholarship/.
